Today is Monday, March 23. The time is 7:09AM. The temperature is the coolest it has
been so far, around 60, with the most fog/mist we've seen. The sun has been good at burning
off the fog, so hopefully today, as well.
I want to say thank you to my good friend Jimmy in North Carolina for some encouraging words.
It is good to know someone knows and can understand what us western dads go through. We are
popular with the locals, but our hearts break, because we just want so much to hold our daughters.
Megan did sit on my lap yesterday, when Kristin had to take Natalee to the restroom (toilet - in China).
And she wimpered, but she at least sat with me, looking and anticipating her mommy's return. I am so
glad that Megan has bonded well with Kristin, she really needs her mom. And I know in my heart that
she will soon warm up to me.
Today we are going to visit Jiaxiu Pavilion and a local minority village - called the Mao people (its pronounced Meow, like a cat says). We have word that 2 other American families are in town now to adopt their little
girls. They are from different adoption agencies, but at least it will be good to see someone who speaks our language. On our walk yesterday to the grocery store it was very obvious that we are the only Americans in the city. But, the local people are very friendly, and light up with smiles when you speak to them by just saying, 'hello'.
Sundays in China are no different than other days, maybe less traffic, but the workers keep working, construction keeps going, and life is still very busy. We had a treat last night at a store called Holiland. It's a cake specialty shop. We were hoping they had ice cream, but we had a piece of black cherry chocolate cake and it was very good. (Priced reasonable, too, 10 yuan- converts to $1.48 USD) The USD is just not worth what it use to be, and things are more expensive 6 years later.
Have a great night, or morning, depending on when you get a chance to read this.
Blessings,
Kyle.
PS. Jimmy, technology is amazing, I actually got to follow play by play of the second half of the Michigan, Clemson game. Wasn't able to do that with the Oklahoma game, so thanks for the update, and I hope you're right! Thanks friend!

We've enjoyed all your updates today. Especially the pictures from the park. Is Kyle really so much taller than the Chinese visitors, or is it just the camera angle? We love the picture of the 4 of you & Dad printed it off. Tom made a video of all of your photos (minus the monkeys) & showed it during announcements this morning. Everyone is following your blog & praying for safety & Megan's adjustments. Kris - your random comments were great, especially Natalee's ben gay! Seems like forever until you're home, but pray the time will go quickly for all of us. Love & prayers - Grandma Diane

ReplyDeleteGod has brought you and Megan together for such a time as this. The bond between a father and daughter is undeniable and unbreakable. She will grow to know that her daddy is always by her side ~ to love her unconditionally . Megan is a truly blessed young child to have parents that love her so deeply.
With blessings of God's beauty and grace,
Love Tom and Stephanie
